Ruins and Remnants

Join us at PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont, from May 2–23, 2025, for Ruins and Remnants with an opening reception May 2 from 4-7pm. This is an evocative exhibit exploring photography of abandoned architecture and the traces left by humanity. This exhibition features powerful images that reveal the stories etched into decaying factories, forgotten homes, discarded tools, and personal belongings—each work a poignant reminder of our history, the passage of time, and the impermanence of human constructs. Juror Aline Smithson has curated 35 photographs for the gallery and an additional 50 for our Online Gallery. At PhotoPlace Gallery, we are passionate about photography and the artists who create it. Each month, we curate juried exhibitions that invite photographers from around the world to share their work around compelling themes.
