Five Bedrooms: 2 Queen Beds, 1 King Bed, 3 Twin Beds and one full. Bedding provided. Large Master Bedroom with private handicapped accessible shower/bath. Two more bathrooms, 1 with shower, one with claw foot tub and shower. Large common areas including Game Room with Smart TV. Wireless Internet access through out home. Modern Kitchen with dishwasher, microwave and extra cold food storage. All kitchen items/needs supplied and dining service for 10-12. Large Dining area to seat 10 indoors and large screened in back porch for dining. Ample lawn space, gardens and outdoor games provided. House is built of hewn stone and stays very cool in the summer months and very warm in the fall and winter months. Fans provided if needed.
Entire original mansion is available to guests. The rear portion of the house and barn are not. Guests are encouraged to explore the historic structures within walking distance of the property. The original Foundry is located across the road and is managed by The Vermont Archaeology Society.
Interaction with Guests
The site is available for weddings and special events (a chapel is across the street!). We are able to provide complete and reasonable event planning services including help with event planning, vendor choices and coordination and event decor and set up. Please contact host to discuss larger events.
Special events such as weddings (there is a chapel across the street!) are welcome. We are able to plan and coordinate any special event with class and economy. There is an off site caretaker and owner who will be accessible by guests if needed while renting. Contact information would be shared upon rental deposit being made.
The area is alive with countless activities for larger groups, families and retreats.
The house is a historical site built by Royal Blake and is minutes away from beautiful Lake Dunmore and Branbury Beach State Park. Lake Dunmore offers water sports, swimming and a recreational beach/water access and snack bar.
Bike trails and Cycle Routes abound throughout the area. The house is located at the foot of the Brandon and Goshen Gaps and offers hiking, fishing and hunting and is minutes away from several great golf courses.
Short drive to Middlebury, VT and Brandon, VT both quaint towns offering local shopping, antiquing, dining and many cultural and historical sites, including Middlebury College.
Explore the ever growing number of local Vermont artisans, galleries, breweries, farms and their award winning products.
A wonderful place to visit during all seasons as the house is in the midst of the Green Mountain National Forest, 1 hour from Killington, Vermont and Lake Champlain.

Ample parking on site. Guests must have their own transportation to and from house. Public transport available on Route 7 from Rutland to Middlebury and Middlebury to Burlington. Closest train and airport are in Rutland, Vermont. Burlington International Airport (BTV) is 1.5 hours away.
We want all guests to enjoy themselves and have a memorable experience. Here are a few house rules that apply to guests.
1. No pets. No smoking.
2. Parties with more than the number of household guests must be cleared with caretaker.
3. Entire original mansion and grounds are available to guests. The rear portion and barn are not.
