The Middlebury Natural Foods Co-op is seeking a Finance Assistant to provide essential administrative support to our Finance Department. This role involves organizing records, handling paperwork, assisting with bookkeeping tasks, and helping ensure day-to-day operations run smoothly. What You'll Do:
- Enter, scan, and file invoices and expenses; maintain vendor records and communicate with vendors
- Reconcile daily sales and register counts with a high degree of accuracy
- Sort and process mail, scan documents, and order office and store supplies
- Provide courteous support to customers, vendors, and staff
- Maintain confidentiality, uphold internal controls, and follow established procedures
- Collaborate with the Finance team and other departments to improve systems and solve problems
What We're Looking For:
- Office Professional: Experience with bookkeeping, administrative tasks, and software like Excel or QuickBooks
- Detail-Oriented: Accurate and organized with a commitment to consistency and integrity
- Strong Communicator: Clear written and verbal skills; able to follow through and collaborate with others
- Team Player: Willing to learn, adaptable, and able to work in a cooperative environment
- Natural Foods Enthusiast: Interest or familiarity with the natural foods industry a plus
- Physical Ability: Able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs; work in office and assist in store setting
