Custodian- Barstow Memorial School

Barstow Unified Union School District (Chittenden, VT) is accepting applications for a part time (4.4 hours per day, 22 hours per week) year round custodian to begin immediately. Starting rate of pay is $19.18, with potential for increase based on like experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Routine manual work involving custodial and housekeeping care of school buildings and grounds;
  • Maintains janitorial and housekeeping supplies and ensures re-ordering through supervisor when needed;
  • Maintains custodial storage areas in a clean and orderly fashion;
  • Notifies and assists supervisor when repairs are needed. ;
  • May perform grounds keeping, snow and ice removal and recycling;
  • Monitors cafeteria & gymnasium cleanliness, with mopping, and sweeping as necessary;
  • Secures building according to plan devised with building administrator;
  • Responsible for cleaning and disinfecting drinking fountains;
  • Responsible for buffing, dust mopping, wet mopping, and vacuuming of floors;
  • Responsible for dusting window sills, shelves, counters and board rails as specified at the local level;
  • Removal of graffiti as needed;
  • Annually assists in stripping & waxing of floors, and steam cleaning carpets;
  • Per work request, sets up and breaks down for meetings, dances, activities and athletic events, etc;
  • Work areas and/or tasks will be assigned by the Head custodian in a manner which best serves the needs of the school;
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Building Principal and/or Head Custodian as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred, with demonstrated custodial experience
