The Addison Northwest School District is seeking to fill multiple positions for Paraeducators in Preschool through high school. Paraeducators will assist and supervise assigned special education students instructionally, behaviorally, and physically in the general mainstream program, working with individuals and/or small groups. To play a supportive role in assessing the progress and needs of assigned students, and participate in developing and modifying individualized instructional programs. Assigned students may include students on the spectrum of autism, multi-handicapped students, emotionally and behaviorally challenged students, as well as other students on Individual Educational Programs or 504 Plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with teachers to support students
- Encourages and supports appropriate social skills, interactions with peers, and conversation with partners and small groups as they relate to behavior
- Apply and implement techniques per CPI guidelines
- Make sound judgements
- Quickly adapt to changing situations
- Communicate effectively
Qualifications and Education:
Job Requirements
- At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
- Successful candidates should have a high school diploma and at least two years of related experience.
