Overview
Hydrogeologist provides support to engineering group with the development of water resources and investigations into contamination and flow of groundwater. Focus on areas of interest including site investigations, environmental remediation projects, soil investigation, water supply evaluations including fracture trace, lineament analysis and source water permitting and testing.
Responsibilities
- Research groundwater flow patterns, monitoring water level in wells, and studying geological data to determine the location of water sources and identify areas where water may be contaminated.
- Preparing written reports about findings for clients and colleagues.
- Hydrogeologic analysis work including but not limited to drill site management; installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of field telemetry-based hydrogeologic monitoring equipment; and assistance with groundwater field investigations.
- Must be comfortable with the application of computer software for technical analysis, electronics, scientific instrumentation, and critical path thinking and analysis.
- Must have experience with designing and implementing complex monitoring and groundwater testing programs, ArcGIS for groundwater applications, and automated remote monitoring of aquifers.
- Provides support and initial scope, schedule and deliverables for proposals.
- Prepares project objectives, deliverables list and approach on projects.
- Must have completed academic course work in Hydrogeology.
- Water source development and permitting in Vermont.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10 years of progressive experience as a practicing geologist.
- Licensed Professional Geologist.
- Scientific knowledge across the range of disciplines.
- Mathematical modelling skills
- The ability to visualize geology and conceptualize groundwater flow in three dimensions.
- Ability to draw conclusions from incomplete information.
- Capacity to evaluate complex data.
- Project management skills.
- Organized and flexible approach to work.
- Oral and written communication skills, including report writing.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team on complex projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
