Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative 504 Coordinator to oversee and ensure compliance with the district’s Section 504 program. This position plays a key role in supporting students, families, and staff by ensuring equitable access to educational programs and services. The position will work 210 days per year as set by the Director of Student Support Services.
Under the direction of the Director of Student Support Services, the Section 504 Coordinator administers districtwide Section 504 processes, serves as the primary case manager for eligible students, and provides training and guidance to school staff. The Coordinator ensures timely evaluations, meetings, documentation, and implementation of accommodations in alignment with federal and state regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Administer and monitor the district’s Section 504 program
- Ensure compliance with Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Coordinate eligibility determinations, evaluations, reviews, and meetings
- Maintain accurate and compliant student records
- Provide training and ongoing support to administrators, teachers, and staff
- Support implementation of Section 504 plans and accommodations
- Coordinate testing accommodations and state assessments as needed
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Section 504-related matters
- Collaborate with special education teams and school personnel
- Assist with Child Find obligations and professional learning initiatives
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field preferred
- 3–4 years of relevant teaching or educational experience preferred
- Knowledge of Section 504, ADA, and Vermont Special Education Law
- Valid or eligible Vermont Professional Educator’s License required
- Administrative endorsement preferred; other endorsements considered

Our school district is centrally located in western Vermont. We are between Rutland, third largest city in VT and the college town of Middlebury. Our beautiful lakes and mountains make the area popular for many outdoor sports. The smallest of our six elementary schools has 31 children, K-6, and the largest has 400 children. Our 7-12 grade high school has an enrollment of 750 students and offers a wide variety of courses for both career and college bound students.
