Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative Teacher: EEE/PreK Special Educator. The teacher provides individualized instruction and support to PreK students with special needs. This role focuses on creating a safe, inclusive learning environment that supports students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development in alignment with state and federal special education requirements
Job Responsibilities
- Design and implement instruction aligned with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Use best practices in early childhood special education, behavior management, and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
- Assess student progress and use data to guide instruction and IEP development.
- Create and maintain a respectful, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
- Implement behavior support plans as needed.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.
- Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records and required state documentation, including IDEA Indicator 12 data.
Education, Training and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Valid or eligible Vermont Early Childhood Special Educator certification (Birth–Age 6).
- Experience working with young children with disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of the IEP process and early childhood special education practices.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Understanding of Vermont Education Quality Standards and the PreK environment.

Our school district is centrally located in western Vermont. We are between Rutland, third largest city in VT and the college town of Middlebury. Our beautiful lakes and mountains make the area popular for many outdoor sports. The smallest of our six elementary schools has 31 children, K-6, and the largest has 400 children. Our 7-12 grade high school has an enrollment of 750 students and offers a wide variety of courses for both career and college bound students.
