Otter Valley Unified Union School District  is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and collaborative full-time health teacher to fill a vacancy in the 2025-2026 school year. It is likely that the successful candidate will work for most of the day at the middle/high school level and facilitate health lessons at the elementary schools. Job Responsibilities
All Otter Valley teachers are expected to:

  • implement standards-aligned units of study and engaging lessons
  • use content-specific pedagogical techniques to engage learners
  • use assessment to inform instruction throughout the learning process
  • create positive classroom cultures focused on relationships, inclusive practices, and reciprocal trust
  • collaborate effectively with colleagues to improve teaching methods and ensure supports are in place for all students
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
  • Possess ability to deliver current, relevant and adaptable class content with real world connections
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of methods, materials and techniques used to teach health and wellness across grade levels
  • Uses a variety of instructional techniques and materials, which are appropriate to meet the needs of all students
  • Understands the value of universal design for learning.
  • Organizes classroom systems/procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged and learning.
  • Collaborates with special education staff for the purpose of attaining goals designated in students’ IEPs and 504 plans.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Health concepts and skills as specified in state statute and the Education Quality Standards, including but not limited to; Nutrition principles, Family Relationships, Child development, Human growth and development, Drug Prevention education, Reproductive and Sexuality Health education, Effective communication and Stress Management.
  • Create learning opportunities which enable students to apply their knowledge of Health to make informed decisions.
Education, Training and Experience Requirements
  • Must be eligible or possess Vermont State Professional License with appropriate endorsement to teach Health PK- 12.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED Certification
